The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Friday has filed a chargesheet in the special court in Ahmedabad, Gujarat against five individuals for their alleged links with terror outfit Al Qaeda and their involvement in planning and executing terrorist activities in India. Four of the accused are Bangladesh nationals who were arrested by the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) in May after it was revealed that they had been illegally living in Ahmedabad and were being trained by their handlers in Bangladesh. The NIA’s investigations have uncovered a carefully planned conspiracy by Al Qaeda operatives across the Indo-Bangladesh border, with the arrested individuals playing a crucial role in carrying out the terror group’s illegal activities. The case was later transferred to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs due to its national security implications and international linkages. The chargesheet has been filed under various sections of UAPA, Foreigners Act, and Indian Penal Code, naming the accused as Mohammed Sojib Miyan, Munna Khalid Ansari, Jahangir, Abdul Latif, and Farid. It is a significant step in bringing these individuals to justice and preventing further threats to national security.
