The country’s first hydrogen ship can reach Banaras by July 10. It started from Kolkata a fortnight ago. Due to less water on the way, it faced problems in reaching Banaras. However, the ship has completed half the journey. The Indian Inland Waterways Authority is trying to make sufficient hydrogen available for the operation of the ship so that its trial in the Ganga can be completed. A temporary plant is being set up at Ramnagar Multi-modal Terminal itself. Cochin Shipyard will conduct the trial for six months and will arrange for hydrogen gas at its own level. For this, work has started towards setting up a temporary plant at Ramnagar Multimodal Terminal itself. Hydrogen will be filled in cylinders from here and delivered to the ship and will be operated in the river. After the completion of the trial, the Tourism Department will operate the ship under its supervision. Fare and route will be determined. After completing the handover process, three permanent hydrogen plants will be set up. The Authority has set a target of producing 1500 kg of gas per day. Talks with two companies are in the final stages to start production. Second electric catamaran will come to Kashi in September, change in design.
