State level school band competitions show patriotism and unity among the students, said Shri B. Srinivasa Rao, State Project Director of “Samagra Shiksha”. In the presence of the Department of School Education – Samagra Shiksha , the competition was held on Wednesday in Pullampeta, annamaya District (SBVD High School) as the chief guest and received honors with the student groups of school bands. Schools from West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Annamayya, Kurnool and Anantapur districts participated in the competition in four categories of Brass Band (Girls, Boys) and Pipe Band (Boys, Girls).
Addressing the program on this occasion, SPD Shri. B. Srinivasa Rao said that from this academic year school band instruments will be provided to four schools in the district among the schools selected for ‘PMSHRI’ and Rs. 27 crores is given as a part to encourage sports. Sports equipments have been provided to almost primary, secondary and high schools, transportation expenses, uniforms, medals and certificates of appreciation are being provided to sportspersons who participated in inter-district school games through Samagra Shiksha. In this academic year, the PETs are being trained in the school complexes.

Every student is asked to make exercise as a part of their daily life and to provide suitable PETs for it. He said that in the corporate education system, many students are committing suicide because they cannot bear the pressure, and by participating in sports, they can develop self-confidence, morale and perform well in studies. Recalling that Pullampeta is the birthplace of ball badminton, he wished the students of today’s generation to take this glory to the national level. On this occasion, SPD Shri. B. Srinivasa Rao unveiled the national flag, Mandal president M. Babureddy unveiled the State School Games flag, Annamaiya District DEO Purushottam unveiled the School Games flag. State School Games Nodal Officer, State School Games Secretary G.Bhanumurthy Raju presented the report. Deputy Education Officer Varalakshmi, MEO Chakradhar, Nagathirumala Rao, School Principal SV Muralimohan Reddy, Correspondent Sriramulu, PETs and Local people of the town participated. The parade of students with musical instruments was a hit.

Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare School (Tadepalli Gudem) bagged first position in pipe band boys category. Montessori Indus School (Kurnool) in the boys section of brass band, in the girls section Penchula Reddy E.M. School, (Rayachoti) stood first. These winners will participate in the Southern Region Zonal Competitions to be held in Thiruvananthapuram, GVRaja Sports School in Kerala on 3rd December.
