A.Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana held an Interactive Session with Inspectors and above rank Police Officers of the Tri Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda, at the TGC and CC Auditorium, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Revanth mentioned that the public is never satisfied with the work turned out by politicians, Police and Press. He appreciated the sacrifices made by the uniformed force at the cost of neglecting their families and children for the sake of duty. Policemen are not able to give more time to their families and many children are wasting their lives in the absence of proper guidance. He asked everyone to spend at least some time with their family and devote the majority of the time towards serving the society for which they have chosen Police as a career. He shared that he is also from Police family and his elder brother joined as a Police Constable and he owes his achievements to the support and guidance given by his brother.
He quoted the examples of the present President of the USA Joe Biden, past President Barack Obama, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and DGP Telangana to emphasize that everyone has got only 24 hours in a day, out of which they should devote at least 16 hours to reach their goals of public service with right attitude which will decide the course of everyone’s career and lives. Government is planning to set up a school on 50 Acres of land in the Greyhounds campus on the lines of Sainik School from 6th class to PG where the children of Home Guards as well as Senior Police Officers will study together by availing the same opportunities and facilities without any discrimination. The Central Government and also various state Governments seek guidance and help from the expertise attained by the various wings of Telangana Police i.e. Greyhounds, SIB, Octopus etc. We need to further strengthen the benchmarks set by these specialized units. He said that now-a-days major crimes are related to Cyber frauds and drugs. Many children from rich families are also becoming victims of this problem. Majority of the drugs are entering the state from Andhra-Odisha border. He reiterated the urgent need to make Telangana a Drug free state and strengthen all check points so that not even one gram of ganja is able to enter the state.
Revanth made it clear to all that hard work and sincerity will be rewarded. He cited the example of Sri Sandeep Shandilya, IPS (Rtd.) who is the first officer to be given extension by this Government after retirement for his commitment towards the Anti-drug measures. Indulging in corruption and seeking favours from politicians for postings will not be appreciated and will be firmly dealt with. Honesty, Integrity and Hard work are the qualities expected of the Police Officers. ACB and VandE will be chasing the corrupt officers. We need to regain the lost glory of Police. There was a time when Police was deeply respected for being impartial and dedicated towards their work. But now-a-days it appears that the public has stopped bothering about the rule of law. Friendly Policing is meant for those citizens who are abiding to the law and we need to go back to basic policing to win the confidence of the public. His message to the entire Police force was to focus less on the activities of the Politicians and concentrate on the criminals and offenders. He directed the DGP to not provide excessive security to him or any politician because it increases the distance with the public. It is the public which gives the politician the powers to serve the society. Bare minimum security should be provided to him as per the protocol requirements. Public should not be put to inconvenience because of his security reasons. The image of Telangana is linked with the image of Hyderabad. We need to improve the image of Police so that Hyderabad and Telangana are talked about at various forums for the positive contributions. The Hon’ble CM also emphasized that every Police Officer should be thorough in the new laws which have come into force from 1st of July so as to achieve better convictions. The CM concluded his speech by saying that Police Department has a vital role in society building and it should live up to the expectations of the public. He specifically told the SHOs that they are the pillars of the Police system and his message is for the entire Police system on this occasion and is applicable to everyone from the rank of Home Guard upto the DGP. Everyone should do their best in whatever assignment is given to them. Anybody facing any problem is free to approach him for guidance.
